Banknote Security Features

1. Watermark — a portrait matching the one printed on the note, visible from both sides when held to light.
2. Security thread — a vertical polymer thread printed with the denomination, glows under UV light (colour differs by denomination).
3. Colour-shifting ink — the numeral in the corner changes colour when the note is tilted (all denominations except $5).
4. 3-D security ribbon and the «Bell in the Inkwell» feature — found only on the $100 note.
5. Microprinting around the portrait and along the border of the note.
6. Intaglio printing — raised, tactile elements in the portrait and text.
7. Unique serial number and the seal of the issuing Federal Reserve Bank.
